Start of School…Again
The So. Cal fires delayed the start of orientation last week, so it was condensed into 2 days, and today was the first actual day of class at Art Center.
This morning was Capture, a black and white 35mm class that’s darkroom based. It seems to consist of different short shooting exercises to help you learn about different aspects of the camera.
In the afternoon was Imaging, a Photoshop intro. So far it’s pretty simple, but learning each basic tool in depth is pretty helpful if you’re like me and learned by fiddling around.
New Shots of Kirsten
Black and Whites of Katherine
Some shots of Katherine with makeup by Juxta. The first two are just a large softbox on a stand the long way, off to the left. The third one down is a gridded and socked beauty dish off to the left, and a strobe with standard reflector behind her for a hairlight. The last one is the sun as a backlight and a full-power Alien Bee 800 with standard reflector in the front and to the left. I guess I like light from the left? Click the pictures for more on Flickr.
Headshots of Katherine
After doing a black and white shoot (photos coming soon) of Katherine with Juxta Makeup, we had an impromptu headshot session because she’s doing some acting work too. Overall, it was really fun and she was cool as hell.
Great After Effects work
Great video made in After Effects. He uses music to drive Trapcode Particular, generating particles and affecting their attributes based on the song. This is amazing work; Particular is simple to mess with and very hard to master.
